Teach
your team new techniques for getting breakthrough ideas and
innovative solu-tions. My new book Eightstorm, discusses 8 tools
that might give you the creative results that you’re looking for.
Here is the first tool:
INTERROGATION
Ask
a question for which you have no answer. If you have a situation
that you are trying to improve or a problem that you can’t solve,
simply ask a question for which you have no real answer. When you
don’t have an answer, you’ll be forced to find one. That’s
when you’ll start stretching your imagination and finding answers
that you never suspected had existed.
When
asked to create an advertising campaign to improve the consumption
of milk, the
US
agency that was assigned the task didn’t ask a simple question
like: Why do people drink milk? Instead they asked a question for
which no one had an answer: What will happen if you don’t drink
milk, especially after eating a biscuit? The answer led to the
legendary campaign: Got Milk?
